History

Neve Electronics was founded in 1961 by Rupert Neve, establishing a reputation in analogue audio consoles. Advanced Music Systems (AMS) was established in 1976 by Mark Crabtree, pioneering digital audio technology including signal processors and the first digital audio workstation. The two companies amalgamated in 1992 to form AMS Neve Ltd, with operations moving to Burnley; the company returned to private ownership in 1996.
