Overview

Angelus is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1891 that specializes in complex mechanical timepieces, particularly chronographs and multi-complication wristwatches. The brand is recognized for pioneering in-house developed movements and has maintained a reputation for horological innovation across more than 130 years of operation. Angelus designs, produces, finishes, assembles, regulates, and tests all movements and timepieces in-house, blending vintage haute horlogerie techniques with contemporary design and materials.

History

Angelus was founded in 1891 by brothers Albert and Gustav Stolz in Le Locle, Switzerland, quickly establishing themselves through exceptional chronograph and multi-complication wristwatches. By 1902, the brand had won a gold medal at the International Exposition in Paris and the Médaille de Vermeil at the International Exposition in Lille. Throughout the 20th century, Angelus marked several firsts including the Chronodato (1942), the first series wristwatch chronograph with calendar, and the Tinkler (1958), the first automatic repeater wristwatch. The brand was acquired by Manufacture La Joux-Perret in 2011 and relaunched in 2015 under CEO Bertrand Savary, embarking on a new era while honoring its heritage.
