Founded in 1885 as Avon Mill, a clothing mill along the River Avon in England, the company transitioned to rubber production and became The Avon India Rubber Company Limited in Melksham. Avon began marketing pneumatic bicycle tires in 1900 and expanded to automobile tires by 1906. In 1997, the Avon Tyres division was sold to Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. The company was subsequently acquired by Nova Motorsport UK, a private company formed in August 2023, which has continued tire manufacturing operations.
