History

Basis Audio was founded in 1987 by A.J. Conti in Hollis, New Hampshire. In the early 1990s, the company began the Work of Art turntable project, which advanced after the 1999 Vector tonearm prototype enabled better testing. The Work of Art turntable launched at Winter CES in 2004 as the company's statement of ultimate performance. A.J. Conti passed away in 2016, after which the company continues under Jolanta Conti and the existing technical team.
