History

Founded in 1849 by John Caldwell Bloomfield, who discovered suitable raw materials on his estate, Belleek Pottery began trading in 1857 and successfully produced Parian ware by 1863. The company achieved international recognition by 1865, supplying Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, and nobility across multiple continents. After struggling through the World Wars, the business was acquired in 1920 and subsequently expanded through acquisitions of Galway Crystal (1993), Aynsley China (1997), and Donegal Parian China (2000). Ownership changed in 1990 to US-based George G. Moore, under whose stewardship the company expanded significantly in factory space, staff, and turnover.

Products are manufactured at the original pottery facility in Belleek, Northern Ireland, using traditional handcrafted methods passed down through generations. Annual production exceeds 100,000 pieces.
