History

Bending Branches was founded in 1982 by whitewater and touring canoeist Dale Kicker and flat-water racer Ron Hultman, who created the first composite tipped canoe paddle in a two-man garage shop. The company grew into the world's largest manufacturer of canoe and kayak paddles. Ed Vater joined as president in 2002, and by 2022 it marked its 40th anniversary with a 37,000 square-foot headquarters in Osceola, Wisconsin.
