History

DOVO Stahlwaren was founded in 1906 by Dorp and Voos as a razor factory with forge and hollow grinding capabilities in Solingen, Germany. Fritz Bracht took over the company shortly before World War II and expanded its market presence in Western Europe and North America. In 1996, DOVO acquired the Merkur brand, expanding its product portfolio to include safety razors. Under managing partners Markus Kirschbaum and Ulrich Wiethoff, the company refocused on wet shaving and modernized both straight razor and safety razor production. The company celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2006 and continues to operate as an independent manufacturer.
