In 1991, it grew into Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), investing in companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Skype, and Baidu, before Tim Draper relaunched the original Draper Associates in 2008 for angel investments in startups such as Twitch, Cruise, Carta, and Robinhood. The firm opened to outside limited partners for the first time in 2015 and began major investments in Bitcoin and blockchain in 2011. It descends from four generations of Draper VCs, starting with General William H. Draper in 1957.²³
