History

Founded in June 1863 by businessman and alpinist Julius Edelmann and technician Carl Ridder, Edelrid initially manufactured cords and braided materials. The company expanded beyond ropes to include harnesses, carabiners, and work safety equipment, and acquired the brands Red Chili and ABS as part of the Edelrid Group.
