Overview

Emma Bridgewater is a British homewares company specializing in ceramic tableware and dinnerware made from cream-coloured earthenware. It designs and manufactures pottery inspired by everyday British life, people, places, and nature, sold through its own retail channels and wholesale. The company expanded into non-pottery items like glassware, tins, picnicware, stationery, wallpaper, fabrics, candles, and home fragrances. Certified as a B Corporation since January 2022 with an overall B Impact Score of 81.6.

History

Emma Bridgewater founded the company in 1984 after failing to find suitable china for her mother's birthday present, leading her to Stoke-on-Trent to start production. Incorporated as NeonGuard Limited on 3 September 1985, it changed names to Brixton Spongeware Limited in 1985 and Bridgewater Pottery Limited in 1991 before becoming Emma Bridgewater Limited in 2004. The company opened a second factory site in 2021 to meet demand and produces 1.9 million pieces of pottery annually.
