History

Enicar was founded in 1913 by Ariste Racine and his wife Emma Blatt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, with the name derived from reversing 'Racine' due to trademark issues. The family watchmaking roots trace to 1854 or 1897 workshops in Lengnau. Key milestones include WWI trench watches, 1950s Seapearl dive watch development with U.S. Navy testing, 1956 Everest expedition sponsorship leading to the Sherpa line, and adoption of the Saturn logo in the late 1940s. Production expanded with a new factory in Oensingen in 1953.
