History

Glock GmbH was founded in 1963 by Gaston Glock in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, initially producing steel and plastic products such as doorknobs, hinges, and later military items like knives and entrenching tools. In the early 1980s, it entered the firearms market by developing the Glock 17 pistol to meet Austrian Army requirements, with prototypes completed in 1981. By 1996, it had sold two million pistols across 32 models in eight calibers; production expanded with facilities in Ferlach and Deutsch-Wagram.
