History

Festool was founded in 1925 by Gottlieb Stoll and Albert Fezer in Esslingen, Germany, initially as Fezer & Stoll repairing and building woodworking machines, and it produced the world's first portable chainsaw in 1927. The name shortened to Festo in 1933, and the power tool division split from Festo's automation business in 2000 to become Festool under TTS Tooltechnic Systems. It remains family-owned in its third generation by descendants of Gottlieb Stoll.³⁶⁷
