Overview

Fisker Inc. was an American electric vehicle manufacturer founded in 2016, focused on developing battery-electric SUVs and sedans as a successor to the earlier Fisker Automotive. It went public via a SPAC merger in 2020 and released its first production vehicle, the Fisker Ocean SUV, in 2023, manufactured by Magna-Steyr in Austria. History

Fisker Inc. was founded on October 3, 2016, by Henrik Fisker and Geeta Gupta-Fisker in Manhattan Beach, California, retaining trademarks from the bankrupt Fisker Automotive, which had produced the Karma hybrid until 2012. In 2020, it completed a SPAC merger with Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp to go public and opened a technology center in San Francisco. The Fisker Ocean entered production in late 2023 at Magna-Steyr in Austria, but the company filed for bankruptcy in 2024 amid financial difficulties.

Manufacturing

Fisker Inc. outsourced manufacturing of the Fisker Ocean to Magna-Steyr's facility in Graz, Austria, rather than producing in-house. No active production facilities are operational following the 2024 bankruptcy.
