History

Flat6Labs was launched in 2011 in Cairo by Sawari Ventures, founded by Ahmed El Alfi and Hany Al Sonbaty, both previously experienced at EFG Hermes Private Equity. The firm expanded regionally starting in 2013 with operations in Saudi Arabia, followed by additional offices in Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Tunis, Manama, and Amman. In May 2012, Flat6Labs became the first African member of the Global Accelerator Network. The firm launched a $95 million Africa Seed Fund to expand its investment capacity across emerging markets.
