Elan Vanilla Co., Inc., the parent company, traces its origins to 1922 when Dr. Joseph Felton began producing vanilla extracts in Brooklyn, NY. The business evolved through family leadership by Ira Kapp and David Weisman. Flavorganics was introduced in 1997 by Elan to provide certified organic extracts, debuting at the 1998 Natural Products ExpoWest and expanding to a full line of pantry staples.
