Flos was founded in 1962 in Merano, Italy, through collaboration between Dino Gavina, Cesare Cassina, and Arturo Eisenkeil, introducing a new cocoon coating material. Sergio Gandini became managing director in 1963, leading to innovative designs like Arco and Taccia lamps by the Castiglioni brothers. By 1972, products were exhibited at MoMA, establishing international recognition. In 2018, it joined Flos B&B Italia Group (formerly Design Holding). Recent leadership includes Roberta Silva as CEO in 2019 and focus on sustainability under 'Flos for Planet'.
