History

John Fluevog founded the brand in 1970 with Peter Fox, opening a shoe store in Vancouver's Gastown as Fox and Fluevog, which lasted until 1981. After the split, Fluevog launched his own store in Vancouver and expanded to Seattle in 1985, becoming the first North American importer of Dr. Martens in the 1980s. By the 1990s, stores opened in Boston, Toronto, and New York, with designs appearing in magazines and on celebrities; in the 2010s, it received awards including Shoe Person of the Year and recognition as an innovative fashion company by Fast Company.
