Grand Seiko was introduced in 1960 by Seiko Watch Corporation as a premium line to rival Swiss luxury watches. Manufacturing

Mechanical 9S watches are crafted at Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in Shizukuishi, Iwate Prefecture, by Morioka Seiko Instruments.135 Spring Drive and quartz models are produced in-house at Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture, within a Seiko Epson facility.46 Both sites emphasize hand-assembly, regulation, and integration of advanced components.
