History

Founded in 1924 by brothers Walter and Hans Gröflin in Tenniken as Fabrique d'Horlogèrie W. & H. Gröflin, initially producing pocket watches before expanding to wristwatches and movements. In 1970, Werner Bitterli acquired the company, renaming it Grovana Uhrenfabrik AG and launching the first Grovana collection in 1971. It navigated the quartz crisis by introducing analog quartz watches in 1980 and expanded globally from 1990, particularly into Eastern Europe, while remaining under Bitterli family ownership for over 30 years.¹²³⁴

Manufacturing

Products are developed and produced at the company's factory in Tenniken, Switzerland, one of the last three in the canton of Baselland making their own wristwatches.
