Hallberg-Rassy was founded in 1943 by Harry Hallberg in Kungsviken on the island of Orust, Sweden. In 1972, Magnus Rassy acquired the company and partnered with Christoph Rassy to develop the HR 35, marking a shift toward bluewater cruisers. The yard relocated to Ellös, and in 2008, it opened a new head office on the water.178
