History

Kingston Technology was founded in October 1987 by John Tu and David Sun in Fountain Valley, California. In 1990, it expanded into processor upgrades, and by 1992 was ranked No. 1 as the fastest-growing privately held company in America by Inc. magazine. The company opened facilities in the UK, Taiwan, Ireland, and expanded U.S. manufacturing in the 1990s, introduced ValueRAM in 1997, and launched the HyperX gaming brand which was later sold to HP.¹
