Liberty Tabletop
ActiveOverview
Liberty Tabletop is the brand operated by Sherrill Manufacturing, Inc., a manufacturer of stainless steel flatware and tabletop accessories. The company is notable as the only remaining flatware manufacturer in the United States, producing 18-10 chromium/nickel stainless steel products. Liberty Tabletop markets directly to consumers through its website, Amazon, and Wayfair, positioning itself around domestic manufacturing and competitive pricing achieved by eliminating traditional retail markups. The company also supplies approximately 500,000 utensils annually to the U.S. federal government for military bases worldwide.
History
Sherrill Manufacturing was founded in 2005 when Matt Roberts and Greg Owens purchased the factory and equipment from Oneida Limited after that company ceased manufacturing at the Sherrill facility. In 2014, the company relocated its government and contract manufacturing operations from Mexico back to the Sherrill plant, increasing its workforce to 42 employees and transitioning from six-week production cycles to daily production. By 2015, the workforce had more than quadrupled, and a 2016 General Services Administration investigation confirmed Liberty Tabletop as the only flatware brand manufactured in the United States. The company operates as a family-owned business co-owned by Roberts, Owens, and Drummond LLC.

Reputation
Liberty Tabletop is recognized as a rare example of domestic manufacturing in an industry that has largely moved overseas, appealing to consumers prioritizing American-made products. The brand is positioned as offering quality stainless steel flatware at competitive prices by eliminating traditional retail markups through direct-to-consumer sales. The company's government contracts and GSA certification provide credibility regarding manufacturing standards and domestic production claims. The brand attracts quality-conscious consumers willing to pay premium prices for domestically manufactured goods, though it remains a niche player compared to international flatware manufacturers.
