History

Founded in 1863 in Munich, Metzeler initially produced rubber and plastic products, entering aviation in 1890 and motorcycle tires in 1892. The factory was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt postwar. It shifted focus to motorcycle tires after 1979 and was acquired by Pirelli in 1986.
