Model Power was founded around 1960 as a family-owned company and grew to produce model trains and accessories for over 40 years. It acquired Mantua's tooling in 2001, reintroducing products under the Mantua Classics brand, which continued via Model Rectifier Corp after 2014. Lionel acquired Model Power's model train tooling in 2018. The company announced closure effective immediately after nearly 50 years, citing banking pressures starting in 2007.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing details are unclear, but products were associated with U.S.-based operations in Farmingdale, NY. Tooling was transferred to Lionel in 2018 following acquisition.
