Overview

Oddly Correct is an independent specialty coffee roaster and cafe located in Kansas City, Missouri. Founded on the principle of doing business differently, the company focuses on high-quality coffee sourcing and roasting while maintaining a distinctive brand identity through custom letterpress artwork on packaging. The company operates both a roasting facility and a cafe, and has gained recognition in the specialty coffee community for its participation in national barista competitions and commitment to community building on Main Street.

History

Oddly Correct was founded in 2008 by Gregory Kolsto, who started the company after deciding to create a business with a culture he agreed with rather than work for an existing company. The company began roasting coffee for wholesale accounts before opening its first cafe to customers in June 2011 at a location on Main Street in Kansas City. The business expanded from a small 10-person seating area integrated with the roasting operation to a full cafe three doors south at the corner of Westport and Main. In 2024, the company relocated to 4141 Troost Avenue to consolidate its roasting operation and cafe under one roof. The company has pursued organic certification and collaborated with local breweries while maintaining its independent status.
