Off-White
ActiveOverview
Off-White is an Italian luxury fashion brand founded by American designer Virgil Abloh that bridges streetwear and high fashion through a distinctive aesthetic combining contemporary luxury positioning with youth culture references. The brand is known for signature design elements including zip ties, diagonal stripes, arrows, and quotation marks applied to clothing, sneakers, and accessories. Off-White operates across multiple categories including men's and women's apparel, footwear, accessories, furniture, and publications, maintaining a presence at Paris Fashion Week and in major retail markets globally.
History
Off-White was founded by Virgil Abloh in Milan in 2013, evolving from his previous streetwear brand Pyrex Vision (2012). The brand was created through a partnership with New Guards Group, an Italian manufacturer and distributor, with Abloh retaining the trademark. In August 2019, Farfetch acquired New Guards Group for $675 million, expanding Off-White's distribution capabilities. In July 2021, LVMH acquired a 60% stake in the brand while Farfetch retained 40%. In September 2024, LVMH sold Off-White to brand management company Bluestar Alliance.

Some critics note that the brand's rapid commercialization and ownership transitions have raised questions about maintaining its original creative vision post-Abloh.
