Ohio Stoneware
ActiveOverview
Ohio Stoneware is one of America's last remaining commercial pottery manufacturers, specializing in high-quality stoneware products including fermentation crocks, utility crocks, and kitchenware. The company operates as both a wholesale and retail business, selling to large and small retailers across the U.S. and Canada. Ohio Stoneware is known for manufacturing American-made stoneware fired at approximately 2,200 degrees with an 18-hour kiln cycle, positioning itself in a market niche that emphasizes durability and domestic production.
History
Ohio Stoneware was founded in 2005 by Ross and Tiffany Pattison, who purchased equipment from Robinson Ransbottom Pottery and a building from Zanesville Stoneware. The company expanded significantly through acquisitions: in 2008 it purchased assets from Buckeye Stoneware, in 2015 added a second location for offices and warehouse operations, and in 2018 purchased a third building that included the assets of Hartstone Pottery and a historic retail location. The Hartstone building, constructed in the 1850s, has historical significance as a former site of J.B. Owens Pottery and a location involved in a major FBI prohibition-era bootlegging bust.
