History

The PK Grill was designed and manufactured in 1952 by Hilton Meigs in Tyler, Texas, as the Portable Kitchen, sold initially from his car in the mid-south. In 1960, Lewis Hamlin acquired the company and relocated manufacturing to Little Rock, Arkansas, where production continued until a fire and business issues halted it in the mid-1970s. In 1998, Paul James, a grill enthusiast, revived the brand after finding one at a yard sale, using original castings to restart production in Little Rock with his sister Martha James. In 2014, investors including Brian Taylor (now president and CEO), Scott Moody, and Jeff Humiston joined, leading to a brand refresh and the launch of the PK 360 in 2016, the first new model in 40 years.³⁵⁶
