Quasar Science was founded in 2012 by four I.A.T.S.E. Local 728 studio electrical lighting technicians—Steven Strong, Evans Brown, Jay Yowler, and Ray Gonzales—in Los Angeles with over 100 years of combined lighting expertise. The company initially developed color-correct LED light bulbs in various form factors (A19, MR16, R40) to address the industry's need for flicker-free alternatives as incandescent bulbs were phased out. By 2014, Quasar had established a complete product line with consistent color temperature and smooth dimming capabilities. In 2024, the Vitec Group acquired Quasar Science, integrating it into the Production Solutions Division alongside Litepanels. The founding partners remained with the company to continue leading operations.
