History

Nicolaus Christoph Robbe founded the company in 1874 in Flensburg, opening a small silversmithing workshop. In 1897, Robbe formed a partnership with his son-in-law Robert Berking, a master silversmith who developed the company's first cutlery designs and modernized production. Under Theodor Berking's management (1925-1965), the workshop expanded to employ approximately 100 workers and survived World War II. Robert Berking (son of Theodor) managed the company from 1957 through the mid-1990s, expanding the collection with new patterns and hollowware designs. Since 1997, Oliver Berking has led the company as the sixth generation of family management.
