Founded in 2016 by David Laville and David Walsh, Rogue Wave Coffee emerged from a decade-long shared vision to build a business around specialty coffee. The founders initially built their own roaster from scratch before establishing commercial operations in Northeast Edmonton in early 2014, later opening a public-facing café storefront in 2015. Ply Pasarj joined the partnership in 2018, bringing competitive brewing expertise and scientific roasting knowledge, helping expand the team from three to twelve members with diverse coffee supply chain experience.
