William Lennon & Co is the last remaining UK producer of vulcanised sole safety boots and external steel toe-cap Engineman’s boots.

History

William Lennon & Co Ltd was established in 1897 or 1899 by William Anthony Lennon to supply boots to quarrying and mining industries. In 1904, the company moved to the Old Corn Mill in Stoney Middleton, where it continues operations using traditional methods. The business transitioned through generations, with the fourth generation—Libs and Dan—joining in the late 1980s amid declining UK safety footwear production; it became the sole UK manufacturer of vulcanised safety boots after 2010.
