Overview

Samson Rope Technologies manufactures high-performance synthetic ropes using fibers such as HMPE, aramids, LCP, polyester, and nylon. The company targets applications in marine, arborist, industrial, and crane sectors, developing ropes to replace wire rope, chain, and commodity synthetics. It operates ISO 9001:2015 certified facilities and has expanded through acquisitions in Europe.

History

Founded in 1878 by J.P. Tolman in Massachusetts as J.P. Tolman Company, it introduced innovations like the switch braiding machine and the Samson trademark in 1884. In 2001, it was renamed Samson Rope Technologies after mergers including the 1993 formation of The American Group. The company relocated headquarters to Ferndale, Washington, and pursued global expansion with acquisitions of Folch Ropes in Spain in 2023 and Corderie Henri Lancelin in France in 2024.
