History
Scag Power Equipment was founded in 1983 as a division of Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc., with initial manufacturing under contract in Mayville, Wisconsin. In 1986, Metalcraft fully purchased Scag, initiating significant growth from a single gear-drive rider model. The company expanded to over 60 models of commercial and residential mowers, debris/turf management, and compact construction equipment. Key milestones include the 1985 establishment of commercial-grade benchmarks and the 2023 launch of the EVZ, its first electric-powered mower.14
