Overview

SLO-Fi Recording Studio is a recording facility in San Luis Obispo, California, revived from the former Avalon Digital Recording Studio. It provides professional recording services for local musicians and projects. The studio was saved from closure by proprietors Patrick Hayes and Mike Cross.

History

Avalon Digital Recording Studio was founded in 1997 by Kip Stork and operated for nearly 30 years until Stork retired. The facility faced potential demolition and repurposing. In recent years, local musicians Patrick Hayes and Mike Cross acquired and rebranded it as SLO-Fi Recording Studio, maintaining its role in the local music scene.

Manufacturing

As a service-based recording studio, SLO-Fi does not manufacture physical products. Operations are conducted in-house at its San Luis Obispo location previously used by Avalon Digital.

Notable Products

  • Recording Services - Full recording, mixing, and production services for music projects.
  • Studio Space Rental - Access to professional recording facilities for independent artists.

Reputation

SLO-Fi is viewed positively by the San Luis Obispo music community for preserving a historic local studio space. It is recognized for supporting regional artists through accessible recording options. Limited public feedback exists due to its recent rebranding and local focus.
