The company expanded into phonographs in 1903, harmonicas, and cigarette lighters, later de-merged and shifted production phases including to Germany in the 1960s before returning elements to Switzerland. In 2011, Guillaume Thorens established Hermann Thorens SA with family members to preserve the brand's Swiss mechanical heritage, reviving lighters in 2024 under licensed production.
