Trotec was founded in 1997 in Wels, Austria as a high-tech subsidiary of Trodat, the established stamp manufacturer. The company emerged from the revolutionary concept of using CO2 laser machines for precision text plate production, which digitalized the stamp industry. In 2002, Trotec established operations in the United States in Mississippi, later relocating its U.S. headquarters to Plymouth, Michigan. The company achieved significant growth, reaching 741 employees and €154 million in sales by 2021, and introduced its proprietary Ruby® laser software in 2021 to further advance industry standards.
