Vianney Halter (born 1963) completed his training at École d'Horlogerie de Paris and began his career in restoration before establishing an independent horological development company in 1994, founding Manufacture Janvier SA in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, named after 18th-century watchmaker Antide Janvier. He introduced his first collection under his own name in 1998 with the Antiqua Perpetual Calendar, which established his signature retro-futuristic aesthetic and gained him entry to the AHCI. The brand gained significant recognition through collaborations including the Opus series with Harry Winston, though it was severely impacted by the 2008 financial crisis, which led to production halts and workforce reduction. Despite this setback, Halter continued developing innovative complications, notably the Deep Space Tourbillon (2013) and Deep Space Resonance (2020), earning him the Best Watchmaker prize at the 2011 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
