Overview

Wogan Coffee is an independent, family-run specialty coffee roaster established in Bristol in 1970. The company roasts high-quality coffee beans for both retail customers and B2B clients, offering hundreds of varieties alongside tea, espresso machinery, barista training, and white-label roasting services. Now in its third generation of family ownership, Wogan positions itself around sustainability and ethical sourcing, with a stated commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030.

History

Founded in 1970 by Mr Wogan (Brian Wogan) in Bristol's city centre, the company began with a single 90kg Probat roaster that remains in use today. The founder identified a gap in the local market for quality coffee roasting. Leadership passed to the second generation in 1991, and the company has since expanded to operate locations in both Bristol and London while maintaining independent family ownership. The business was incorporated as Brian Wogan Limited in 1987 and has grown to include a training campus and brew bar alongside its core roasting operations.

Manufacturing

All coffee is hand-roasted in-house at the Bristol facility using a combination of vintage and modern roasters, including the original 1968 90kg Probat alongside 1kg, 30kg, and 120kg machines. The company operates solar-powered warehouses that generate equivalent electricity to annual consumption. Manufacturing remains entirely in-house with no outsourcing of roasting operations.
