History

G. M. Yost Manufacturing Co. was established in 1906 in Waynesboro, PA, initially producing nut-facing machines, and shifted to vises in 1907 by acquiring the Snediker vise plant in Yonkers, NY, relocating operations to Mechanicsburg, PA, then building a facility in Meadville, PA, in 1908.467 The company expanded through acquisitions of Meadville Vise Co. and Williamson Vise Co. in 1910, and by 1930 was known as Yost Manufacturing Co.4 Owned by the Nelis family for over four decades, it grew the brand and innovated in workholding tools until acquisition by The Eastwood Company.13
