History

G. M. Yost Manufacturing Co. was established in 1906 in Waynesboro, PA, initially producing nut-facing machines, and shifted to vises in 1907 by acquiring the Snediker vise plant in Yonkers, NY, relocating operations to Mechanicsburg, PA, then building a facility in Meadville, PA, in 1908.⁴⁶⁷ The company expanded through acquisitions of Meadville Vise Co. and Williamson Vise Co. in 1910, and by 1930 was known as Yost Manufacturing Co.⁴ Owned by the Nelis family for over four decades, it grew the brand and innovated in workholding tools until acquisition by The Eastwood Company.¹³
