Overview

Zacua is Mexico's first brand of electric microcars, producing compact urban vehicles assembled in the country. It focuses on zero-emission mobility for city use, integrating with charging infrastructure from its parent group's parking facilities. Notable for being the first fully Mexican-developed and assembled electric vehicle, with models exempt from Mexico City's vehicle restrictions like Hoy No Circula.127

History

Zacua was founded in 2017 by Jorge Martínez, director of parking company COPEMSA, after an idea conceived over 20 years earlier to address urban pollution and traffic. The company opened its first production plant in Puebla in 2018. It partnered with French firm Chatenet for design and Spanish Dynamik Technological Alliance for electric systems, launching the MX2 and MX3 models.1236
