Zandstra

Overview

Zandstra Sport is a Dutch company specializing in ice skating equipment, producing and selling skates since 1931. It focuses on steel skates and related accessories for recreational and speed skaters. The brand holds a niche position in the European skating market, drawing on over 90 years of family-led manufacturing experience.

History

Zandstra Sport originated in Sneek, Netherlands, where the Zandstra family began importing Norwegian Ballangrud skates in 1931 under Thomas Wouter Zandstra. In 1955, it acquired the Batavus skate stock and brand after production ceased. The company expanded in 1965 by purchasing a warehouse in Sneek for assembly, acquired Norwegian brands Ving and Ballangrud in 1980, and opened a manufacturing facility in Joure in 1983.
